Our Admissions Policy and Procedure

1

We are honored that you are interested in Cattoira Montessori School for your child. We are confident that once you have toured our school and seen our classes you will know that Cattoira Montessori School is the place to help cultivate your child’s full potential.

Observation & School Tour

2

Parents considering Cattoira Montessori School for their child can schedule a tour of our school campus.  When parents experience a tour and observe a classroom, it helps them determine if our school is a good match for their child and family.  During the tour, information is provided about the history of our school, the Montessori philosophy, our school's vision and an opportunity for questions and answers.  To schedule a tour, contact the office at (305) 274-6509 or via denise@cattoiramontessori.com.  Tours are recommended for the fall of the year previous to your child’s enrollment but can be conducted any time throughout the year.

Orientation

3

All students are required to spend time one-on-one with one of our staff members for a brief evaluation. It is recommended that this evaluation takes place in Jan, Feb, & March on a school day after regular sessions.  The applying child will have the opportunity to tour the school as part of the admission process. The child has a “visit” as part of his or her familiarization with the school and our familiarization with the child. In addition, this is a time for school personnel to assess the child’s readiness for school.  We are looking to get a baseline on your child’s skills, i.e. language and conversational skills, ability to separate from the parent, gross and fine motor skills, independence, ability to take direction from the teacher, and to determine the child’s interest in the learning environment.

Application

4

Applications are accepted year round, and it is to the student’s advantage to apply as soon as possible. The school has an open enrollment policy whereby students may enroll during the year if space is available. If space is not available, applications are kept on file.

A completed application form must be submitted to the office. The form should be accompanied by the required transcripts and the student evaluation form (see below). Once the application is complete, the application will be reviewed.

Student Evaluation Form

5

We ask that all incoming registration forms be submitted with the Student Evaluation form that is included in your Enrollment Packet .  All forms must be completed by your child's previous school and mailed, emailed, or faxed to our office.  Forms can be emailed to denise@cattoiramontessori.com.

Notification

6

Parents will be notified of the school’s decision by mail or phone.  If accepted, the family will receive the necessary papers to complete the enrollment process. In February, re-enrollment forms are sent to currently enrolled students and by the end of the month, vacancies for the next school year are filled from applicants in the waiting pool ready to be admitted.

Registration Forms & Tuition Deposit

7

An applicant is formally admitted after the office receives the signed Tuition & Fees Agreement and all tuition deposit fees have been received.  The Tuition Deposit is 1/10th of the program fees for that year (plus Material Fees for Elementary Students) and are due at the time of acceptance.

Health Forms & Immunizations

8

All children must have a current Health Form completed by their Physician, and dated within a year. These forms must be signed & updated on an annual basis. All children must have an immunization record on file at the school, or a signed release form of religious exemption.

Our program is happy to consider the needs of your child with respect to allergies and dietary restrictions. Each classroom will customize their snack program, to ensure the safety of your child at all times. This may include special training in handling your child’s needs.
